Spooky Illustrations

This year, I am ALL ABOUT AUTUMN! I usually muster up some healthy excitement for Halloween, and make up some reasons to craft while I'm at it. But this year, man THIS YEAR, I'm feeling it. I think it has something to do with the fact that for 6 months, the world has been in a cycle of confusion and disorientation. I'm looking forward to getting festive.

At one point, I suddenly looked down at my drawing table and thought, wow, there's way too much green in this illustration... more darkness is needed! And that was how I knew it was officially Fall for me.

I found the perfect inspiration in my favorite local birds and my favorite flying mammals. Word, crows and bats are legit.

This was a perfect opportunity for me to hone my colored pencil skills to bring my creepy babies to life.

I also remembered that I made a zine a couple of years ago for my friend's birthday, which was all bat facts, and I'd love to share that with the world, too.

And if you would like step-by-step instructions on how to cut and fold the zine, check out this very handy video from The Oregonian.

If you're a Patron, you can get both these spooky bats and the blue crow as free mobile wallpapers... AND, these will be hitting my shops here, here, and here in the next couple of days.
